DENTON, Texas - North Texas swimming and diving’s Krista Rossum and Mona Groteguth have been named to the 2013-14 Conference USA All-Academic Team, announced Wednesday.
The Mean Green juniors are two of six members of the All-Academic Team who qualified based on academics (a GPA of 3.2 or higher) and their performances in the pool.
Rossum is a biochemistry major who accumulated a GPA of 3.929 through the 2013 fall semester. Her success does not stop in the classroom; Rossum has set a school-record in the 400 IM and her NCAA B time of 4:18.39 earned runner-up honors at the University of Houston Invite, where she also recorded a program-best in the 200IM (2:00.98 NCAA B). She has accumulated eight individual wins in dual meets this season.
Teammate Groteguth is a psychology major with a 3.923 GPA. The backstroke specialist won the 100 back at the U of H Invite, which was just shy of the school record she set earlier in the meet (54.04, NCAA B). She posted a school record with the second fastest time in the 200 back at the invite in 1:56.62 (NCAA B). Groteguth sits second going into the conference championships this weekend.
The Mean Green compete in the C-USA Championship this Wednesday, Feb. 26, through Saturday, Mar. 1, at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center, in Atlanta, Ga.
