Sun Belt Swimming & Diving Day 3 Prelims

ROCKWALL, Texas- North Texas enters the third day of the Sun Belt Swimming & Diving Championships holding a slim lead over Denver, which it will look to protect tonight in finals events. North Texas attempts to set up scoring opportunities tonight with strong swims in the preliminaries this morning.

Finals events commence at 6 p.m. tonight in Rockwall.


11:33 a.m. - North Texas qualifies three for the consolation finals for the 400 yard individual medley. Denver had a strong run, qualifying five for the championship finals. Denver has consistently been strong in this event, the conference record holder is Denver alumuna and currently North Texas' assistant coach, Michele Lowry.

11:47 a.m. - Rosa Gentile is the fourth-seeded qualifier for the 100 yard butterfly championship finals with a time of 54.88. Bryn Lewis and Seabre Pope qualify for the consolation finals in the event.

11:58 p.m. - Catia Weickgenant is one of three qualifiers for the 200 yard freestyle championship finals, as two more qualify for the consolation finals. Weickgenant set the school record in that event on Wednesday, leading off the 800 freestyle relay. Angie Dworschack and Dawn Richerson also make the 200 yard freestyle finals.

12:06 p.m. - Rosita Bado and Sarida Muslow qualify for the 100 yard breaststroke championship finals. Muslow posted a 1:04.17, less than 0.3 seconds off the school record. Muslow should have a good shot at the school record tonight.

12:18 p.m. - Three swimmers qualify for the consolation finals in the 100 yard backstroke. Rosa Gentile leads them with a time of 57.09
