KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The North Texas swimming and diving team will look to build on last year's fifth-place conference finish as the Mean Green and six other teams open conference meet action on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from the Allan Jones Aquatics Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The three-and-a-half day event will begin with the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay events. The final three days of competition will follow a traditional championship format that features a preliminary round at 10 a.m., followed by a finals round at 6 p.m. each day.

North Texas - along with conference foes FIU, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Old Dominion, WKU and Rice - will compete in the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, three-meter dive and 200 free relay on Thursday before squaring off in the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 400 medley relay and one-meter dive on Friday. The championship meet will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 21, with the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay and platform dive.

North Texas comes into the season's final week with a 4-4 dual meet record, a two-win improvement from last season's win total. That record includes a 151-140 dual meet win over Rice in November, but the team benefitted from the Owls' lack of divers on that day. The Mean Green wasn't so lucky in its other run-ins with Rice, as the defending champions finished first and North Texas finished third in each of the team's championship-format invitationals this season.
