Swimming To Compete At SBC Championships
Denton (2/15/07) ? The North Texas swimming and diving team travels to Nashville, Tennessee to compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championships Feb. 15-17.

At the beginning of the season, the team set a goal to break all the records in school history. So far, the team has broken 14 school records and has posted 38 separate top-five times in school history. Only seven school records remain to be broken. All five top times in the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Individual Medley relay were set this season.
Many members of the swimming and diving team have improved and thrived under the direction of Dykstra.

Freshman Alicia Hale has dazzled North Texas sports fans all season by breaking four school records, and being named Swimmer of the Week for her performance in the UALR Christmas Invitational, where she won three individual events, broke two individual school records and was also part of two school record-setting relay groups. She has had a first-place finish in every meet but one this season for a total of 14 individual first-place finishes, and was a part of two relay teams that finished first. She holds 11 separate top-five times in school history.
Freshman diver Bailey Devine earned the honor of Diver of the Week by the Sun Belt Conference for her performance at the UALR Christmas Invitational where she earned a score of 318.90 in 1-meter diving and 355.65 in 3-meter diving. Devine has improved drastically this semester posting a point-increase of 192.15 in 1-meter diving and 179.47 in 3-meter diving since the season’s first meet.
Junior Bonnie Garcia-Meitin has had nine individual first-place finishes this season and has been a part of four relay teams that finished first. She holds all five top times in school history in the 100 backstroke and holds the record in the 200 backstroke. She has also been a part of all record-breaking relay teams this season.
Junior transfer Hannah Bakke broke the school record in the 100 breaststroke during the first meet of the season and she holds four of the top-five times in school history in the 100 breast.
