VIDEO: Swimming Seniors Look To Finish Strong In Final Home Meet
North Texas Enters Last Weekend Of Competition Before Conference Championships
DENTON - The North Texas swimming and diving team will close out its home schedule this weekend when it hosts SMU at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, from the Pohl Recreation Center. The meet will begin with a senior day celebration for the team’s five graduating upperclassmen. North Texas will then travel to Southlake, Texas, for a time trial event with SMU and Oklahoma Baptist at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Mean Green is coming off a weekend loss to TCU, a meet that featured seven wins and numerous season-best times. With the Conference USA Championships just two weeks away, North Texas looks to add to a list of top times against an impressive SMU squad.
SMU is no stranger to visiting Denton. The Mustangs currently hold seven North Texas home pool records, and SMU senior Nathalie Lindborg returns to Denton to defend a 100 freestyle record that she set in 2013. For North Texas, Friday will be the last chance for seniors Krista Rossum and Mona Groteguth to claim Pohl Recreation Center records.

- In last year’s matchup with SMU, senior Krista Rossum took first in the 100 breast and second in the 400 IM, while senior Mona Groteguth placed second in the 100 back and third in the 200 free.
- Friday will be the 14th all-time matchup with SMU. North Texas has never defeated the Mustangs in a dual match.
