Swimming And Diving Recognized As Scholar All-America Team
Mean Green Combine For 3.31 Team GPA
NORFOLK, Va. - The North Texas swimming & diving team was named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America team, as announced by the organization Monday. The Mean Green posted a team GPA of 3.31 in the fall.
"Our student-athletes work hard both in the water and the classroom," North Texas head coach Brittany Roth said. "To have our team achieve a 3.31 GPA is a testament to the work they are putting in toward their degrees."
North Texas is one of 688 programs across 430 schools to earn the honor for the Fall 2017 semester. To earn the honor, teams were required to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the term. The Mean Green have been recognized as a Scholar All-America team each semester for the last 13 years.
"One of the many items we look at in recruiting is academic progress," Roth said. "Our program is looking for high-achieving individuals who expect to succeed in all areas of their lives. Having a team culture that prioritizes this philosophy goes a long way in getting the right girls on our team."
The team is coming off a dominant 220-98 win over metroplex foe TCU on Friday and looks to follow it up against another DFW rival at SMU at 5 p.m. Friday.
