Hale Named Sun Belt Conference Swimmer Of The Week For Third Time
DENTON, Texas - North Texas senior Alicia Hale was named the Sun Belt Conference's Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday for the third time this season and the second time in the last three weeks.
Hale was a major contributor in her final two dual meets this past weekend winning four individual races and coming in second once.
In only the second dual win over Houston in program history, Hale won the 200-yard Freestyle, touching the wall in 1:52.02, and the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 52.01.
The next morning, on senior day, Hale again won the 200-yard free, this time in 1:52.34, and the 100-yard freestyle, registering a time of 52.60 this time around leading North Texas to its first dual win over rice.
Her second place finish came Saturday in the 200-yard IM where she finished in 2:09.30, .13 seconds off the first place time.
She was also a member of the 800 free relay that finished first against Houston on Friday, and the 400 medley relay that captured first against Rice.
North Texas will take this weekend off, as they prepare to travel to College Station, Texas, to face-off with the sixth ranked Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, Feb. 6th. The meet will mark the last dual meet of the season.
