North Texas Swimming And Diving Travels To College Station
Mean Green Take On No. 7 Texas A&M
DENTON – North Texas’ swimming and diving team will take on its toughest challenge of the season on Wednesday as it travels to College Station to face Texas A&M, the defending Southeastern Conference champion.
The Mean Green are coming off a second-place showing at the San Diego Shootout but have yet to win a dual meet this season. Earlier this season, North Texas fell to Conference USA foe Rice, 155.5-138.5, and Houston, 160-140. Both of those meets were at home.
As for TAMU, it enters the week ranked No. 7 in the nation, owning a 4-1 record in dual meets. The Aggies last saw action on Dec. 3, when they defeated Rice, 150.5-99.5.
North Texas has found success in the 100 and 200 breaststroke this season. Vaisse broke the program record in the 100 breast at 1:01.38, a time good for second in C-USA this season.
In the 200 breaststroke, Claudia Kitching paces North Texas with a time of 2:15.30.
Ash Stone and Jowita Sienczyk will lead North Texas in the 200 backstroke. Stone is the fourth-fastest performer in program history, owning a time of 2:00.45. Sienczyk is the No. 6 performer in school history at 2:02.40.
North Texas’ diving team will be in action as well. Gabryella Silva highlighted the divers in California, finishing ninth in the one-and-three meter board events against UCLA and Kansas.
North Texas has never won a head-to-head meet against the Aggies, and dropped last season’s meet 180-110.
