North Texas Sits In 6th After Day One

HOUSTON, Texas -The North Texas swimming completed day one at the Phill Hansel Invitational, finals started off with a third place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, the fifth fastest relay in program history.
The Mean Green junior Krista Rossum picked up an NCAA B time standard and another third place finish in the 200 IM with a 2:00.98, just off her personal-best and school record.
Sophomore Jana Burkard finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:49.59, lowering her preliminary time, yet it wasn’t enough to hold off Erin Flanigan from Rice.
In the 50 freestyle the North Texas junior Mona Groteguth won the consolation final finishing ninth overall. Groteguth lead off the 400 medley relay in 54.02 breaking her own record in the 100 backstroke and leading the Mean Green to a second place finish.
