Mean Green Drop Second Meet Of The Weekend To Houston
North Texas Falls to Cougars, 228-69
HOUSTON - The North Texas swimming and diving team wrapped up weekend action with a dual meet against Houston, losing to the Cougars, 228-69. The Mean Green finished less than half a second behind the leader in four events.
Senior Claudia Kitching fell victim to this occurence in two of the four races, finishing 0.33 seconds back from first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.72) and 0.31 seconds off the lead in the 200-yard breastroke (2:18.55).
"We had some exciting races today, and everyone came together and pushed each other to the end," Kitching said. "We can only move forward and learn from our performances to improve and be the best we can be."
North Texas picked up one win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Brittany Thurstin, Isabelle Morris, Leigh Faires McGee and Emmabeth Jensen swam a time of 1:35.75.
The Mean Green are back in action November 17-19, when the swimmers compete in the Kansas Classic in Topeka, Kan., and the divers return to Houston for the Houston Invitational.
