FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (10/6/12) - North Texas swimming and diving came in second at the Razorback Relay on Saturday with a score of 338. Finishing ahead of them was Arkansas with an overall score of 526. SMU, Missouri State and Vanderbilt came in third, fourth and fifth to round out the meet.
The Mean Green had several strong performances during the meet including a third place finish in the 11th event, the 400 yard medley individual relay. The combination of sophomore Krista Rossum, junior Sarida Muslow, freshman Ashley Payne and senior Joanna Wozniak formed the unit with a final time of 4:03:80.
NT also performed well on the diving side of the event. Five of the 13 placers in the three-meter dive were out of North Texas, and junior Rebecca Taylor placed second in the one-meter dive with a score of 255.60. Senior Delia Covo finished fourth in the same event with a score of 241.20.
"This was a really solid win for us," head coach Joe Dykstra said. "We weren't exceptionally fast at anything. We didn't have a lot of stand out individual performances. We were just solid from top to bottom.
"This was the first time we ever beat SMU, a perennial top 20 team. We beat Missouri State, a team that has won their conference in recent years and Vanderbilt, a SEC team."
Other notable showings included a fourth place finish in the 3x100 yard medley butterfly relay, the 500 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard medley relay.
NT returns to the pool in New Orleans to take on Tulane in two weeks.
