Rossum Wins The 2013 Swimming Pentathlon

Sept. 20, 2013

DENTON, Texas -

The Mean Green's Krista Rossum was the women's pentathlon champion after competing in an exhibition meet against TCU, while junior classmate Mona Groteguth's total points left her third overall.

"Today's meet was a great opportunity for the coaches to see the ladies get up and race for the first time this season", said North Teaxas assistant coach Sayler. "Racing against TCU helps our swimmers gauge where they are in their own race development, and helps them get motivated for the upcoming season."

North Texas began the 2013-14 season with four out of five wins over TCU. Rossum finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.19), 100 freestyle (53.49), and the 100 IM (59.60).  Groteguth had three top five finishes and swam the fastest time of 57.19 in the 100 backstroke.

Up next for Mean Green swimming and diving is the Alumni Intrasquad meet Saturday, Sept. 28. Diving will begin at 9 a.m.  followed by swimming.
