Mean Green Softball Volunteers During The Holiday Season

DENTON (12/18/06) - The North Texas softball team recently finished volunteering for the Community Civic League's Annual Angel Tree Program.

The CCL serves Argyle, Bartonville, Lantana and Copper Canyon communities and helped to provide Christmas gifts to more than 80 children from some 34 different families. The Mean Green players helped wrap a large portion of the 720 gifts to be handed out to the designated families.

This is the second community service project the Mean Green has volunteered at in the past two months. Most recently, the student-athletes volunteered at the 2006 UNT Boo Bash held at the University Union on the campus of North Texas. This marks the third year in a row that the North Texas softball team has volunteered with an Angel Tree Program in some capacity. In previous years, the players have helped The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program while also volunteering to help with their Kettle Ringing Operation.
