Softball Signees Receive Honors

DENTON, Texas (11/29/11)  -- Recent North Texas signees Amanda Edmundson and Bryana Wade were both named to the Oklahoman Little All-City First Team roster.
Edmundson was one of four infielders named to the list, while Wade was the lone catcher placed on the first-team roster. Edmundson is a senior on the Little Axe High School softball team, while Wade plays for Mount St. Mary High School.
Edmundson was an all-region and all-state selection as a senior. She led the Little Axe High School softball team to state championships in 2010 and 2011. In 2011, she batted .465 with 38 RBI and 12 home runs. She was a four-year all-conference player and was named her team's offensive player of the year three times.

Wade was a finalist for the 2011 Gatorade Player of the Year after a standout career at Mount St. Mary High School. Over her four-year career, she recorded a batting average of .462, knocked in 91 RBI and hit 20 home runs. She was named a 2011 Middle West All-State Catcher and was a four-time all-conference player.

Edmundson and Wade are two of the seven high school players that signed National Letters of Intent to play for North Texas. For the 2012-13 school year, the signing class includes the following players:  Amanda Edmundson (1B/SS, Little Axe HS/MNorman, OK); McKinna Kinsey (OF, Jack C. Hays HS/Buda, TX); Paige  Kisling (OF, South Torrance HS/Torrance, CA); Taylor Schoblocher (IF, North Forney HS/Forney, TX); Madison Tierney (OF, Vandegrift HS/Austin, TX); Bryana Wade (C/IF, Mount St. Mary HS/Choctaw, OK) and Karlyn Williams (IF,  Medina Valley HS/Castroville, TX).
