Softball One Step Closer to Finalizing 2015 Class

July 17, 2015

DENTON - As the end of summer and the beginning of the fall semester both draw closer, North Texas softball head coach Tracey Kee has nearly completed the incoming 2015 signing class. With the addition of East Central University transfer Lauren Miller on Thursday, Kee’s class has now reached an outstanding total of 10 student athletes, comprised of six incoming freshmen and four transfers.

Miller, despite being plagued by injury early in her career, fought her way to three state tournament appearances at Blanchard High School (OK), smashing a go-ahead home run en route to a state championship in 2012. After her senior year in 2014, the first baseman was named to the Oklahoma All-State team. Just prior to joining North Texas, Miller helped East Central University claim the 2015 Great American Conference championship.

Coach Kee on Miller: “We are very happy that Lauren decided to be a part of our Mean Green family. Adding a strong athletic student-athlete to first base who has the ability to hit for power and average will indeed benefit us for years to come. Her desire to push herself on the field and competitiveness will fit nicely into our system. Her focus and drive in her academic pursuits compliments our athletic department's goal of bringing in quality student-athletes who will represent the university at its highest levels.”

Why Lauren chose North Texas: “To me, North Texas just felt like home. I am so excited to represent the Mean Green and pursue a successful career in Denton as a student athlete.”
