IRVING, Texas -- Although pitcher Madison Thompson has completed her walk across the stage into Mean Green alumni status, she still picked up one final award of her career on Wednesday afternoon. Conference USA named Thompson to the 2014-2015 Spring C-USA Spirit of Service award list, putting the cherry on top of a career dedicated to hard work and perseverance at North Texas.

Conference USA honored 14 student athletes that were leaders amongst their peers on the field, in the classroom and out in the community. Among the list of honorees, the spring sports of baseball, men's and women's golf, women's rowing, softball, tennis and outdoor track and field were represented. Thompson was one of three C-USA softball athletes included on the list.

On the field, Thompson etched her place in Mean Green legend in 2015 when she tossed a complete game shutout of No. 7 Baylor on the road. The 1-0 upset in Waco accounted for the highest ranked opponent North Texas has defeated in program history. For her efforts, she was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 23.

Although her athletic claim to fame in Denton is one to brag about for years to come, Thompson's work in the classroom and in the community can be considered even more impressive. While balancing practice and studies, the Sand Springs, Oklahoma-native was able to finish her undergraduate degree in psychology with a biology minor and a stellar 3.888 GPA.

In her time at North Texas, Thompson also received two C-USA Academic Medals and was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll once. Her efforts in the community included being a member of the Campus Outreach Ministry Core team, a secretary of the SAAC, a teacher at Little Village, a Camp Hope counselor, amongst other service ventures.
