North Texas Softball's #SCHOtime Named to 2015 NFCA All-Region Team
Junior Taylor Schoblocher Becomes Second Player in Program History to Receive Honor
2015 North Texas Softball Final Statistics
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- After leading North Texas in nearly every offensive statistical category this season, junior leftfielder Taylor Schoblocher has been named to the 2015 Division I South All-Region team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. One of 371 total players honored across ten different regions, Schoblocher was voted by the South Region member coaches to one of three outfield slots on the Third Team.
Still in the growing stages since its inaugural season in 2004, the North Texas softball program's hard work and dedication to the idea of taking the team to the next level is starting to pay off. Under head coach Tracey Kee's leadership, the Mean Green is starting to set a new standard for the future as Schoblocher became just the second player in program history to earn all-region accolades on Thursday afternoon. Mariza Martinez, also an outfielder for North Texas from 2008-11, picked up All-Central Region First Team honors in 2009.
From start to finish, the junior made headlines for the Mean Green, including taking home ASA/USA National Player of the Week honors during the first week of the season, a program first. Schoblocher's incredible opening weekend performance that included six home runs and 12 RBI also landed her Conference USA's respective award in addition.
The junior wreaked havoc from the batter's box, torching opponents for 17 home runs and a .833 slugging percentage, finishing 35th and 33rd respectively in the NCAA (2nd/1st in C-USA). Her home run total finished just one short of tying the program's single-season record, while both her slugging percentage and on base percentage (.477) both obliterated the North Texas single-season record books.
