Troy, Ala. (5/11/13) – North Texas junior shortstop Brooke Foster was named to the 2013 Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team, released Saturday by the league office.
The Mean Green finished its 2013 campaign with a 29-24 record and a 2-2 mark in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. North Texas picked up wins against Florida Atlantic and Troy in the tournament. The eventual championship winner South Alabama ended the Mean Green’s season with a 5-0 decision in the semifinals on Friday night.
Foster led the team in the tournament with five RBI. She started off the scoring with a two-run homer against FAU. She also doubled in the game. The junior knocked in three runs, including the game winner against Troy. The shortstop brought home two runs with a two-RBI single and then won the game with a sacrifice fly. She also made several stellar defensive plays at shortstop.
Foster finished her junior campaign with a team-leading .377 batting average and 66 hits. She was second on the team with 10 doubles and 14 stolen bases. The .377 batting average is second in the North Texas single-season record book and the 66 hits are tied for third. She was named a second-team all-conference at-large selection.
