May 9, 2017

IRVING, Texas – The North Texas softball team placed three student-athletes on the Conference USA all-conference teams, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Senior Kelli Schkade was named first team for the second-straight year, while Lindsay Gregory and Lacy Gregory were named to the all-freshman team.

Schkade, a preseason all-conference selection, had a solid final season in Denton, leading the team in average (.343), hits (63), runs (42), triples (five) and home runs (nine). Additionally, Schkade has tallied 21 multi-hit games this season, the third-most in a single season for a North Texas hitter.

The Albany, Texas, native also etched herself atop the North Texas record book after recording her 18th stolen base of the season on April 19 against Abilene Christian, setting the single-season program record. She has since swiped four more bases, bringing her season total to 22. The 22 stolen bases up her career total to 50, the most a North Texas player has amassed in a career.

Additionally, Schkade ranks third in career average (.333) and on-base percentage (.408).

The Gregory twins burst onto the scene for North Texas in 2017 and were instrumental in helping North Texas to the 2017 C-USA Tournament.

Lacy, who has started every game for the Mean Green, ranks second on the team with a .321 average and her 34 RBI lead the team. The Kingwood High School product has launched seven home runs, one of which came off Kelly Barnhill, the No. 1 pitcher in the country.

The freshman paces the team with 10 multi-RBI games and 11 doubles, while her 11 multi-hit games rank third on the team. Gregory flashed her talents early in the season with an 8-for-16 showing at the Getterman Classic, with three extra-base hits, earning a spot of the all-tournament team.

As for Lindsay, who has started 53 of 55 games, she ranks third on the team with a .308 average, and hit .319 against C-USA foes. Her 10 doubles, 49 hits and 19 runs scored all rank third on the team.

Lindsay collected C-USA Conference USA's Co-Player of the Week honors on March 6 after a 12-for-22 showing between March 1-5, and is the lone player to collect four hits in a game this season.

The Kingwood, Texas, native has tallied 13 multi-hit games this season and had a season-best 14-game hitting streak. She was 8-for-9 in stolen base attempts.

North Texas opens the C-USA Tournament on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. against Charlotte.
