DENTON, Texas (4/29/13) - The University of North Texas softball team will host its sixth annual Play for Kay Game on Tuesday, April 30, against UTA at Lovelace Stadium. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
North Texas will donate all proceeds raised from t-shirt sales and cash donations to help aid in the recovery of one of the Mean Green’s most loyal supporters and long-time employees. The person behind the Play for Kay name, Kay Johnson, has been in remission from acute lymphoblastic leukemia for seven years but has been in and out of the hospital for the last seven months because of additional medical problems.
The softball team will also hold a silent auction and those proceeds will benefit DFW's Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Over the last five years, Mean Green softball has raised and donated more than $6,000 to LLS through the Play for Kay games.
