North Texas Softball Game Moved Up To 3:30 PM

The North Texas softball game against No.1  Oklahoma has been moved up to 3:30 p.m. today at Lovelace Stadium. The game was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. but was moved up due to concerns about the weather.

For only the fourth time in the history of North Texas athletics, the Mean Green is hosting a No 1 team. On Tuesday, North Texas will face the No. 1 ranked team in the country, Oklahoma, at Lovelace Stadium. In men’s basketball, North Texas has hosted No. 1 Cincinnati twice in the 1960s and DePaul once in 1980. OU is 39-3 overall, is hitting .327 as a team and has a 1.18 ERA. The Sooners hold a 21-0 advantage in the series against the Mean Green.

North Texas defeated No. 19 Baylor, 5-3, on Wednesday. North Texas was 0-6 this season against ranked opponents before beating the Bears. North Texas had not defeated a ranked opponent since defeating No. 18 Baylor at home on March 16, 2011. Bryana Wade and Taylor Schoblocher both homered to put North Texas ahead in the opening game. Ashley Kirk struck out eight batters in the win. An error allowed an unearned run to score in the nightcap, leading Baylor to a 2-1 win and a split in the doubleheader.
