Mean Green Softball Hosting Organ Donor Awareness Day Saturday

April 20, 2017

What does it mean to be a living donor?

Around December of 2014, Kerry Kozlowski, sister-in-law of associate head softball coach Natalie Kozlowski, learned that her kidneys were functioning at less than 20 percent of their total kidney function.

"At that moment, right then and there, I was with my family in New York, and I said, `If she needed a kidney, I would be willing to donate to her, '" Natalie recalled.

Coach Kozlowski's donation is one that many have made to save the life of another individual. Now, North Texas softball wants to raise awareness for the cause.

The program has partnered with Southwest Transplant Alliance in Dallas for Saturday's games and the organization will be tabling to provide information how individuals can become an organ donor.

Fans will also receive a green wristband upon entry into Lovelace Stadium. Green is the color of Organ Donor Awareness.
