DENTON - The North Texas softball team travels to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Wednesday to complete a home-and-home series with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
The Mean Green (21-17, 8-7) are coming off a 3-1 week, including a 2-1 series victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
North Texas is 3-2 in mid-week contests this season. In the last mid-week game, the Mean Green downed Stephen F. Austin 6-1 behind senior pitcher Stacey Underwood's five one-run innings and freshman Hanna Rebar's 2-for-3 showing at the dish.
Senior infielder Kelli Schkade is on the verge of breaking another record, needing two more steals to surpass the single-season mark of 17. She is also on the outside looking in for multi-hit games in a career. The Albany, Texas, native has tallied 44 in her three seasons, three shy of Dani Hoff's fifth-best mark of 47.
As for the Cowgirls, they are in the middle of a season-long losing streak of four games after dropping a three-game set to No. 5 Texas A&M last week.
Cowgirl Stadium has been a tough place for opponents to play in, as OSU is 12-4 on its home turf.
In the first meeting this season, OSU defeated the Mean Green 10-2 in Denton. Cowgirl ace Brandi Needham tossed a complete game for OSU in the victory.
The last time North Texas defeated the Cowgirls was on March 12, 2014, behind Ashley Kirk's complete game. The Mean Green won 4-3.
