Mean Green Hosts No. 18 Baylor Today

DENTON, Texas (3/16/11) -The North Texas softball team concludes its 18-game home stand with a doubleheader against No. 18 Baylor this afternoon at Lovelace Stadium at 4 p.m.

The Mean Green is 10-6 on its homestand with four of its six losses coming at the hands of ranked opponents. North Texas is 12-10 overall this season, while Baylor stands in at 23-3.

The Mean Green swept nationally-ranked Baylor last year on the road in doubleheader action. The Bears travel to Denton for a mid-week doubleheader and are ranked No. 18 in the most recent NFCA/USA Today Top 25 Poll. North Texas is 3-6 in the all-time series against Baylor. In last year's two wins, Mallory Cantler tied a school record with five RBI in the Mean Green's 11-3 five-inning run-rule opening win and then posted the game-winning hit in the 5-3 nightcap victory.

The Mean Green defeated ULL, 8-5, in the third game of the series on Sunday. North Texas defeated ULL for the first time since 2007 and the first-time ever during a regular season conference series. NT was 0-12 against ULL prior to Sunday's game and trails in the series, 28-2. The win was for the first for the Mean Green over a ranked opponent this season. NT is now 1-6 against nationally-ranked opponents in 2011.
