Softball Competes In Tulsa Tournament

DENTON, Texas (3/2/12) - The Mean Green softball team will compete in the Hyatt Downtown Tulsa Tournament to wrap up regular-season tournament play this weekend. North Texas begins play on Friday, March 2 against Loyola Chicago and Tulsa.

North Texas (5-8) will face Tulsa, Austin Peay College and Loyola-Chicago in the three-day tournament. The Mean Green is 2-3 in the series against Tulsa and has not played the Golden Hurricane since 2008. North Texas played in a Tulsa tournament in 2006 and 2007 and hosted Tulsa in a Mean Green tournament in 2008. The Hurricane is 9-3 this season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year after winning Conference USA.

The Mean Green is facing Loyola Chicago and Austin Peay College for the first time in school history.

North Texas is coming off a 4-1 loss to No. 8 Oklahoma. Keilani Ricketts was pitching a perfect game against the Mean Green until Brooke Foster broke it up with a two-out walk in the seventh inning. Maddelyn Fraley broke up the no-hitter bid with a single up the middle that scored a run.
