IRVING, Texas - In it first Conference USA preseason softball poll, North Texas was picked to finish fifth out of 13 teams in newly realigned conference.

NT senior Brooke Foster was also named to the All-Conference USA preseason team.

“I believe the new look of Conference USA has so many unknowns," head coach Tracey Kee said. "Whenever you combine teams from four different conferences, gauging a program’s abilities is impossible. That’s why we play the game. Regardless of if we were first, fifth or thirtieth, our training and preparation would be no different, nor would our goals.”

Foster, who was NT's sole representation on the the All-C-USA preseason squad, was a two-time all-conference selection in the Sun Belt, and was named to the SBC All-Conference tournament team last season.

“As a program, we have grown tremendously since August," coach Kee continued. "Implementing new concepts, changing a program’s vision and culture, as well as laying the entire foundation via hard work and discipline has been our daily work. I am incredibly proud of how much ground these student-athletes have covered here at North Texas. With this continued persistence, our future will be very bright.”

North Texas finished just behind East Carolina, while defending C-USA champion UAB took first place in the voting.
