North Texas Drops Both At FIU
#MGSB could not get its offense rolling and struggled from the circle in both losses to the Panthers
April 26, 2014
MIAMI - North Texas softball lost both games against conference rival FIU in day one of their series by a combined score of 14-1 in which the Mean Green struggled to keep up with the Panther offensive attack.
"After a highly-disappointing day today with our pitching staff, it is important for us to quickly regroup and get out of here with one win," head coach Tracey Kee said. "Getting swept would be a very bad thing."
North Texas could not convert opportunities into runs despite outhitting the Panthers, 7-2, in game one. On the backend, FIU made the most of its base runners when it got a timely grand slam in the bottom of the third to put the Mean Green away.
FIU won the game 7-1.
The offensive woes continued for North Texas into game two as it could only generate four base hits and no runs while FIU got on the board early and often with back-to-back-to-back homers in the bottom of the first inning.
The Panthers finished off the Mean Green by a score of 7-0 to conclude the night.
North Texas finishes its weekend series with FIU on Sunday, April 27, at 11 CST.
