DENTON, Texas – North Texas suffered its second doubleheader sweep at the hands of the UAB Blazers, dropping the first contest, 9-1, before falling in the second meeting, 5-1.

“They capitalized on our mistakes, which were uncharacteristic on our part, but solid teams do that to you,” head coach Tracey Kee said. “They have two of the best pitchers in our conference, a righty and lefty, and we knew coming in we would have to manufacture runs. We just simply did not do that today.”

UAB scored three first-inning runs in the first game, and North Texas’ sole run came from a Jackie Miller sacrifice fly that scored Jordan Terry from third.

In game two, Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week Lauren Poole held the Blazers to five runs, four of which were earned, but the Mean Green bats were once again stifled by the UAB pitching. The lone run was scored by Brooke Foster off of a Terry single up the middle.

North Texas looks to avoid the series sweep to UAB on Sunday, March 30, at noon in Denton, Texas.
