North Texas Falls To Middle Tennessee

Murfreesboro, TN (3/19/11) - The Middle Tennessee softball team completed its conference series sweep with a 4-1 victory against North Texas on Saturday morning at Blue Raider Field.

North Texas falls to 13-14 and 1-5 in the Sun Belt, while Middle Tennessee improves to 8-16 and 3-3 in the Sun Belt. The Blue Raiders swept the season series, 3-0, and lead the overall series, 16-11,

Middle Tennessee scored a combined four runs in the first three innings to take an early 4-1 lead. North Texas scored an unearned run in the top of the third to cut the lead to 2-1, but a two-run homer by Corrie Abel extended the Blue Raiders advantage.

Caty Juston held the Mean Green to just four hits. The Blue Raider pitched seven innings and gave up just one unearned run off four hits.

Mallory Cantler picked up the loss for the Mean Green. She gave up four runs off seven hits in two innings of work in her first start of the season. Brittany Simmons allowed just one hit in four innings of relief work.

North Texas returns to action on Wednesday, March 23 when it plays Oklahoma State on the road.
