DENTON, Texas - Kelsey Hodges and Rachel Holden were named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Region First Team, marking the first time North Texas soccer placed two players on the all-region first squad.
Hodges and Holden, the Conference USA Defensive and Offensive Players of the Year, respectively, paved the way for North Texas to win 14 games and earn a trip to the C-USA Tournament finals in the school's first year in the new league. They are the first Mean Green players to earn a first-team nod since Marilyn Marin in 2000.
Hodges finished her storied career as one of the most decorated players in Mean Green history. She ranks second in school history in career minutes, and her 32 career goals rank eighth. Hodges is no stranger to postseason accolades, having earned a second team all-region nod in 2012 and three first-team all-conference selections in her career.
Holden, the only player in C-USA to earn two Offensive Player of the Week awards, and finished second in the league with 12 goals on the season. She was also named the C-USA Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the first-team all-conference. Holden opened her career with a hat trick at Texas Southern, and also notched a hat trick at Oklahoma.
