Holden Named NSCAA All-Region Player

Dec. 1, 2016

DENTON – North Texas senior forward Rachel Holden capped her soccer career by being named to the NSCAA All-Central Region Third Team, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. It is the second consecutive year that Holden has been named all-region and the third time in her career.

The all-region award crowns a stellar season for Holden, who helped lead the Mean Green to their third straight Conference USA regular-season title. Holden was named first-team all-region as a freshman and junior.

Holden continued to be a scoring threat during her senior campaign. She finished first on the team with 10 goals and second with 24 points. In C-USA, she tied for first in goals, tied for fourth in points and tied for eighth in assists with four. She was named C-USA's Offensive Player of the Week on Sept 19 after scoring both goals in the come-from-behind win against Rice. She registered at least a point in five of the nine conference games she played in.

She was named to an all-conference team for the fourth straight year and is ranked in the top 10 in the North Texas record books in career points (84), career goals (38) and career game-winning goals (16).
