MOBILE, Ala. (11/10/07) For the second straight season the Denver Pioneers have ended the North Texas women’s soccer season. Denver captured the Sun Belt Conference Soccer Championship with a 2-0 victory over North Texas (15-8) in the conference championship.

The Mean Green, playing in its eight straight conference title game, end the season with 15 victories.

In a defensive slugfest the two teams only combined for 13 shots in the game, but it was two goals by Denver in the second half that made the difference. The Pioneers (13-4-4) got goals from Lauren Cavarra in the 49th minute and then from Lizzy Carlson in the 75th minute to ice the game.

North Texas was held to only five shots in the game by the Denver defense.

North Texas had three players on the all-tournament team as Heather Hutyra, Dani Slavonic, and Kendall Juett were all named to the squad. Hutyra had four goals in three games at the tournament and finishes her career with 51 career goals at North Texas, which is tied for second all-time.
