Davis And Flobeck Named To C-USA Championship All-Tournament Team

DENTON – Seniors Marchelle Davis and Anna Flobeck were named to the Conference USA Women’s Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team as announced by the league office. The Mean Green went 1-1 in the championship, falling 3-2 to Florida Atlantic in the semifinals.

Davis started the comeback for the Mean Green against FAU with an assist on Tori Phillips’ long goal. She tied the game, 2-2, with a put back following a scramble in the box after a corner kick.

Davis finished her senior campaign with a team-high 26 points and eight assists. She was second on the squad with nine goals. She recorded 12 points in the Mean Green’s final six games. She was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week the last two weeks of the season and was voted to the All C-USA Second Team. Davis was one of three players to start all 21 games for the Mean Green.

Flobeck played every minute of the C-USA Championship at the defensive midfield position. She gave North Texas a 1-0 lead in the opening game of the championship against Old Dominion with a one-shot put back from just inside the 18-yard box after a goalkeeper’s clear fell at her feet.

Flobeck finished her senior campaign with 13 points, good for third on the team. She was tied for third on the team with five goals and tied for fourth with three assists. Flobeck was one of three players to start all 21 games for the Mean Green.

North Texas finished the 2016 campaign with a 15-5-1 record. The Mean Green won their third straight regular-season C-USA title with a 9-1 league mark.
