Holden Named First-Team C-USA All-Academic Squad

Rachel Holden has had a great sophomore season, on and off the field
Nov. 5, 2014

DENTON – A day after she was recognized for her on-field performance, sophomore Rachel Holden was rewarded today for her work in the classroom. The sophomore forward received Conference USA First-Team All-Academic honors.

Holden is a kinesiology major with a 3.78 GPA. She was named a C-USA Academic Medal Winner in 2013-14 and was named to the North Texas Academic Dean’s List for the 2013 year.

The sophomore was named first-team all-conference after scoring four goals this season. Holden was named the 2014 C-USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year after a stellar freshman campaign. She started her sophomore season by scoring two game-winning goals in the opening two games and was named the league’s offensive player of the week. Despite drawing a lot of attention and double teams, Holden has scored two goals and dished out an assist in conference play for the Mean Green.

Holden and the top-seeded Mean Green play their opening-round game today in the Conference USA Tournament at 3:30 p.m. against No. 8 Marshall in Charlotte, N.C.
