History In The Making
NT soccer takes on Texas Tech in 1st round of the NCAA championships tonight at 7 p.m.
DENTON, Texas - The entire North Texas soccer team and its fans gathered into the club level of Apogee Stadium Monday at 3:00 p.m. to witness the NCAA selection show for the NCAA Division 1 Women's Soccer National Championship.
The Mean Green soccer team had to wait until the final bracket was revealed placing North Texas in the bottom right against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. NT last played Texas Tech in 2010 in Lubbock, a game that the Mean Green lost by one in the Red Raider Classic tournament.
North Texas (16-4-2) is coming off possibly its best season in school history having won the regular season championship and SBC tournament. Texas Tech (15-5-1) came in third in the Big 12 and lost in the second round of its conference tournament to Baylor, the eventual champion.
NT soccer has a chance to make history and advance in the NCAA championships for the first time in the program's 11 years. The previous two attempts in 2004 and 2005 resulted in first round exits.
The first round matchup will take place in Lubbock, Texas this upcoming weekend on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m.
