MOBILE, Ala. (11/5/05) - Starting today at 1 p.m., watch the Sun Belt Conference Soccer Tournament live on your desktop. The Mean Green continues its run to a second consecutive NCAA Tournament with a championship game battle against South Alabama.
North Texas is in the Sun Belt Conference Championship for the sixth consecutive season and will face the host school South Alabama. The Mean Green defeated the Jaguars earlier this season 2-1 in overtime in Denton.
South Alabama has not lost at home this season, but North Texas faced a similiar sitiuation in last season's SBC Championship game as FIU had not lost at home until the Mean Green defeated them 1-0 in the title game.
North Texas has eliminated the Jaguars in the SBC Tournament in three of the past five years. The winner of the game will get an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
North Texas head coach John Hedlund notched his 150th career win in the 2-1 semifinal win over Western Kentucky. The Mean Green can tie the school record for wins in a single season at 16 with a win against South Alabama.
All seven games of the soccer tournament will be available live on the Sun Belt website, www.sunbeltsports.org. The tournament may be viewed live via web streaming at a cost of $9.95.
