North Texas Kicks Off 2008 Soccer Sun Belt Tournament Today

DENTON, Texas (11-04-08) For the first time in school history the University of North will be hosting the soccer Sun Belt Conference tournament, beginning at 10 a.m. this morning. North Texas enters the tournament as the number two seed and will play their first game at 7 p.m. tonight against number seven seed South Alabama.

The two teams faced off earlier this season on October 10 and they played to a 3-3 double overtime tie. In that contest freshman forward Kelsey Perlman scored two goals for the Mean Green to help erase a 2-0 deficit. North Texas leads the all-time series 11-1-1.

There will be a total of four games on Wednesday, beginning with the number one seed Denver Pioneers playing eighth seed UALR at 10 a.m. At 1 p.m. Middle Tennessee (4th seed) will take on Florida Atlantic (5th seed) and at 4 p.m. Western Kentucky (3rd seed) will play Florida International (6th seed).

If North Texas were to win their opening round game, they would play the winner of the Western Kentucky/FIU matchup on Thursday at 7 p.m.
