Soccer Plays Final Home Game Tonight Against WKU

DENTON – The North Texas soccer team hosts WKU in its final home game of the season tonight at the Mean Green Soccer Complex.

If the Mean Green wins or ties tonight, North Texas secures the regular-season conference title outright. Right now, North Texas has clinched a share of the title.

North Texas has already earned the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament which starts next week. Regardless of the result tonight, the Mean Green will play Marshall in its opening conference tournament game. Marshall earned the No. 8 seed with a tie against FIU on Thursday night.

Junior Karla Pineda has emerged this year as an offensive force who can score goals and dish out assists off set pieces. She leads the team with 11 goals and seven assists. She scored four goals last week and received Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Jackie Kerestine also received player of the week honors on Monday after picking up two shutout victories over Charlotte and Old Dominion. The junior has received three player of the week nods from the conference office this season and set three career records.

Seniors Alyson Stallcup and Leah Cox will play in their final home game of their careers tonight. Both are four-year letterwinners who have been a part of four conference championships and an NCAA appearance.
