Pineda Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
Senior Midfielder Honored For Her Work In The Classroom
DENTON - North Texas midfielder Karla Pineda was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Pineda, a kinesiology major, has a 3.4 grade-point average. She was named to the North Texas Dean's List in 2013 and 2014 and made the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll the last two years.
On the soccer field, Pineda is the Mean Green's set-piece specialist. She leads the team with seven assists and is second on the team with seven goals. She is ranked 14th in the nation and first in the conference in game-winning goals with five.
Pineda scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win against Rice on Sunday. The Mean Green won the regular-season Conference USA championship with the victory and remained undefeated in league play.
The midfielder was named to the C-USA's preseason all-conference team and was a first-team all-conference and second-team all-region player in 2014.
North Texas finishes up play in the regular-season with a Friday road game against Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. The Mean Green begins play in the C-USA conference tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 4 as the No. 1 seed in Miami, Fla.
