DENTON, Texas – With one regular season game remaining on the schedule, things are pretty simple for the North Texas soccer team.

Want one of the three byes handed out for the Conference USA Tournament next week? All North Texas would have to do is beat or tie UTEP on Thursday, and they wouldn’t have to play in Houston until Wednesday.

A loss to the Miners is what could make things complicated in a jumbled C-USA West Division that will bring only the top five teams to the league’s showdown. Three teams, including North Texas and UTEP, are locked into the C-USA Tournament, but four other squads will be competing for the two remaining seeds. Wins from UTSA or Rice, combined with a Mean Green loss, would drop NT out of a bye and into Monday’s opening round.

Thursday’s Mean Green Scenarios
• North Texas Wins: NT earns the No. 2 seed, C-USA Tournament bye
• North Texas Ties: NT earns the No. 3 seed, C-USA Tournament bye
• North Texas Loses: A Rice or UTSA win would jump NT in the standings
