MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (10/28/07) The North Texas women’s soccer team let a 1-0 halftime lead slip away as Middle Tennessee (10-5-3, 7-2-1) rallied to pick up a critical conference win 2-1 from the Blue Raider Soccer Field. The Blue Raiders scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the second half to send the Mean Green (13-5, 7-3) to its third straight loss.
Heather Hutyra scored her seventh goal of the season to give North Texas an early 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute of play. Hutyra rifled the goal home off a free kick from 30 yards out. It was a physical match throughout, but the Blue Raiders first tied the game in the 80th minute and then took the lead for good four minutes later.
Jen Threlkeld tied the match up off a tap in right in front of the Mean Green net. Kaley Forrest then gave Middle Tennessee a 2-1 lead with a header from 10 yards out off a corner kick from Holly Grogan. The Mean Green could not get the equalizing goal in the final minutes.
Goalkeeper Kandice Ellis made five saves on the afternoon.
North Texas returns to action in its home finale on Friday, November 2 with a match against the Denver Pioneers.
