Oct. 24, 2014

North Texas returns home to the friendly confines of the Mean Green Soccer Complex after playing the last five games on the road.

The Mean Green posted a 3-1-1 record while on the road and is now in the driver's seat in its quest to a regular-season conference championship. North Texas sits in first place with 16 points with three home games remaining in the regular season. The Mean Green hosts Charlotte on Friday at 7 pm. The 49ers were picked first in the preseason conference poll and are tied for second with 13 points.

The Mean Green has a home winning streak against conference opponents of 46 games, which ties for the third longest in the nation. North Texas has not lost a home conference game since Oct. 31 of 2008.

Karla Pineda has emerged this year as one of the Mean Green's offensive MVPs. During the five-game road trip, the junior was responsible for three of NT's six goals, including two game-winning penalty kicks. The Mean Green is 2-for-5 in penalty kicks this season. Pineda has made both of them.
