DENTON, Texas – Friday’s 4-1 win at Tulsa gave the North Texas soccer team a key victory over a regional rival, as well as the coveted No. 2 spot in the Conference USA West Division standings.

But with three regular season games to play and just two points separating the Mean Green (10-5-1, 4-2-1 C-USA) from the division’s fifth place squad, NT knows that it has to take care of business in order to earn one of the division’s three byes in next month’s C-USA Tournament.

Vanessa Ibewuike, this week’s C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, leads the nation’s ninth ranked offense into action against Middle Tennessee and UAB. The senior scored a goal and assisted on two others in the Tulsa win, and now ranks second on the team with 15 points on the year.

North Texas turned some heads across the nation with its three-game win streak. NT picked up a top 25 vote in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America weekly poll, and once again appears in Others Receiving Votes.
