LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (10/21/07) Three first half goals were too much for the North Texas women’s soccer team to overcome as they were upended by UALR 3-1. The loss ends the Mean Green’s seven-game winning streak and is their first loss in Sun Belt Conference play this year
UALR (9-8, 4-4) jumped on North Texas early as Leanne Mihelich scored in the 17th minute to give the Trojans the 1-0 lead. Grace Rich made it 2-0 UALR in the 29th minute of play as she scored off a feed from Mihelich. Rich collected her second goal of the afternoon in the 38th minute of play to make it 3-0 UALR.
The Mean Green (13-3, 7-1) came out in the second half and cut into the Trojan lead early as freshman Janaye Woods scored her 11th goal of the year in the 53rd minute. Down 3-1, North Texas continued its late push, but could not get any closer despite outshooting UALR 14-6 in the second half, including 12 corner kicks.
North Texas stays on the road this week with two key games, starting with a visit to league leader Western Kentucky Friday night.
