On Tap The 9th-ranked team in the South region takes on UALR and Arkansas State as they look to continue their six-game win streak, the longest for the Mean Green since 2007. Michelle Young has been instrumental to this streak, scoring or assting in every game of the streak so far, and was named SBC Player of the Week this week. North Texas currently sits in a tie for 2nd in the Sun Belt with Middle Tennesee and Western Kentucky, but does not have the tiebreaker on either school. A loss this weekend by #24 Denver would set up a showdown next Friday for the SBC Championship between the Pioneers and Mean Green.
Goal Differential North Texas is third in the nation in goal differential, with 45 goals scored and 12 goals allowed (+33). Only #3 North Carolina (+36) and #1 Stanford (+35) have better goal differentials on the season.
Rank and File North Texas is ranked 9th in the South Region of the NSCAA/ Poll. This is the fifth straight week North Texas has been regionally ranked.

UALR Series History North Texas split its contests against UALR last season, winning 2-1 in Little Rock during the regular season, but falling 1-0 in the conference tournament. 
Arkansas State Series History The Mean Green are undefeated and untied against the Red Wolves in 13 total meetings. North Texas has dominated Arkansas State by a total score of 63-5 over 13 meetings, and have scored 6+ goals six times against the Red Wolves.
All We Do Is Win North Texas has never had a losing season in their 15 years as a program, and has clinched a 16th straight winning season in 2010. Only North Carolina (28 seasons), William & Mary (28), Portland (24), Notre Dame (22), Stanford (22) and Penn State (16) have active streaks of more consecutive winning seasons entering this year. William & Mary and Penn State have not yet clinched winning seasons in 2010, while the other schools have.
Fan Support The contest against SMU saw North Texas welcome a record number of fans, with 1,246 fans passing through the turnstiles to see the 3-2 overtime contest in Denton. North Texas soccer was putting on a benefit for Livestrong that night, and wore special yellow jerseys, sold shirts and took donations that benefited Livestrong. The previous high for a North Texas home game was 1,173, set on 9/5/2008 vs. Oklahoma.
Young Forever Michelle Young was awarded Sun Belt Player of the Week this past week for her 3 goals and 2 assists against FIU and FAU. She has scored a goal or assisted on a goal in all six games of North Texas’ current six game winning streak. Overall, North Texas is 9-0-1 when she scores or assists.
Offensive Firepower North Texas has shown a potent offense this season. The Mean Green rank 16th in the nation and 1st in the Sun Belt in goals-per game.

We Must Protect This House Since the 2000 season, the Mean Green has been nearly perfect in defending its home turf. North Texas is riding an eight game home Sun Belt winning streak, and is 12-1 in their last 13 home conference games. North Texas is currently 10-1-1 in their last 12 games at home. During the past 10 plus seasons the Mean Green has made its way into the NCAA record books at home. The Mean Green went unbeaten for 24 straight games from Oct. 3, 1999 until Oct. 11, 2002. That streak is the 12th longest in NCAA history. Two years later a new one started on Oct. 3, 2004 and didn’t end until Oct. 22, 2007. It covered 23 straight games and is the 13th longest home unbeaten streak in NCAA history. North Texas is one of just three schools in the nation to have two unbeaten streaks at home of 23 games or more in NCAA history. 
Every Game Kara Brooks enters this weekend having played all of North Texas’ last 1030 minutes without seeing the bench. Brooks had played 1558 of North Texas’ 1581 minutes this season, only sitting out for six minutes against New Mexico and the last 23 minutes against Texas Southern.
Iron Women Three returning North Texas players have seen the field in every single contest since they arrived on campus. Junior Kelsey Perlman (56 games/55 starts), sophomore Michelle Young (36 games/35 starts) and sophomore Ellen Scarfone (36 games/35 starts) have never missed a game in their respective careers.

DENTON, Texas- North Texas extended its winning streak to six games, the longest winning streak for the Mean Green since 2007, as they defeated FAU 5-0 at the Mean Green Soccer Field. Michelle Young scored twice for the Mean Green.
North Texas improves to 11-5-1 on the season and 6-2 in the Sun Belt. FAU falls to 4-11 on the season and 3-5 in Sun Belt play. North Texas’ 5-0 victory is their largest victory in a Sun Belt game since a 7-0 victory against Louisiana-Monroe in 2007. The win guarantees North Texas’ 16th straight winning season in 16 years, one of five programs in the nation who are guaranteed to enter 2011 with 16 or more consecutive winning seasons.
“We came right after them from the beginning and scored some early goals,” said Head Coach John Hedlund. “We got the results that we wanted, and hopefully we can move up in the rankings this week.”
Michelle Young scored twice on the afternoon, continuing her hot streak that has seen her score a goal or collect an assist in all six games of North Texas’ winning streak. In the 21st minute, she blocked a upfield pass from the keeper with her body, collected the loose ball, and tapped it into the net to make the score 3-0. Young scored her 8th goal of the season in the 58th minute, when she received a pass from Loreli Ramsey in the box and scored from a sharp angle. Young added her fifth assist of the year on North Texas’ fourth goal, and now has assist in four straight games.
North Texas first got on the board in the 10th minute when Kelsey Hodges intercepted a bad pass from the goalkeeper that she directed into the net, her team-leading ninth goal of the season.
Loreli Ramsey fired in a long shot from 30 yards to double North Texas’ lead in the 11th minute. The goal was the first of Ramsey’s career. Ramsey added an assist on North Texas’ fifth goal, and now has two assists on the year.
