Oct. 19, 2015

DENTON -- Rachel Holden scored two game-winning goals over the weekend and was rewarded with Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The junior has scored four goals in the last five games; all of them gamewinners. Four of her five game-winning goals this season have been against conference opponents.

Holden opened the scoring on Sunday in the 3-0 win against UAB with a tally in the 81st minute after following up a Taylor Torres shot that the goalkeeper could not hold onto. She scored the team's second goal and eventual gamewinner against Middle Tennessee with a header from inside the six-yard box.

The junior leads the team with nine goals (tied for third, C-USA) and 19 points (tied for fifth, C-USA). She is also ranked first in the conference and ninth nationally with her five game-winning goals.

This is Holden's first C-USA weekly honor of the season and the fourth of her career.

The Mean Green stands in first place in the conference and has won its last six games. North Texas plays Southern Miss and Rice this upcoming weekend. The Mean Green hosts Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 25 when it plays Rice at 7 p.m.
