Soccer Senior Introductions Set For Friday Against UTSA
Mean Green Soccer Paying Tribute To Six Seniors Friday
DENTON, Texas – Prior to Friday’s UTSA game, the North Texas soccer team will be paying tribute to six seniors that have dedicated so much to the Mean Green over the last four years. This year’s senior class has combined for 312 career appearances in a North Texas uniform.
- # 2 - Shelly Holt (D, Richland Hills, Texas)
A veteran of 69 career appearance in four years at North Texas , Shelly Holt has over 3,500 career minutes and two conference championships under her belt. She notched her first career goal – the game winner against McNeese State – just last month. Holt is a part of the defense that recorded the second longest shutout streak in school history earlier this year, and she is set to start her 38th career game on Friday.
- #4 - Vanessa Ibewuike (F, Plano, Texas)
Vanessa Ibewuike arrived in Denton just in time for the 2013 season, but was a major shot in the arm for the Mean Green offense. She scored goals against Virginia Tech, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss and Colorado College, and ranks eighth in Conference USA with three assists. Ibewuike was invaluable in the wins over Big 12 opponents TCU and Oklahoma with an assist in both games. She ranks second on the squad with 11 points on the year.
- #13 - Allison Guderian (D, Coppell, Texas)
Second only to Kelsey Hodges with 70 appearances in a Mean Green uniform, Allison Guderian will cross the 3,000 career minute plateau on Friday. Always a threat on both sides of the field, Guderian has 25 starts on defense to go with five assists and a goal on offense. She was a major cog in the defense’s 422 minute shutout streak this season and owns a 54.2 shots on goal percentage.
- #15 - Kelsey Hodges (D, Denton, Texas)
One of the most decorated and potent all-around players in school history, Kelsey Hodges is a two-time first-team all-conference selection. Despite starting 75 games at sweeper for North Texas, Hodges ranks in the top 10 of five of career program records, including ranking fourth in minutes with nearly 6,400. Her 25 career goals are only one shy of 10th place in Mean Green history, and her 80 shots on goal are 8th. Named captain by her teammates, this two-time conference champion has seven career game-winning goals, and even founded and organized NT's Kick It Kodi game to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer.
- #21 - Lynda Hercules (MF, Plano, Texas)
Lynda Hercules burst onto the scene in 2013, and ranks fifth on the squad with seven points on the season. The Plano native has played in 34 games for North Texas since transferring from BYU, and has scored three goals and notched three assists since arriving in Denton. She opened the 2013 season with a pair of first-half goals at Texas Southern, and is tied for 10th in Conference USA with a trio of assists this year. Hercules will start her first career game for North Texas on Friday.
- #22 - Tori Adame (D, Midlothian, Texas)
Tori Adame has been a stalwart on the North Texas back line since arriving at North Texas from a freshman year at Houston Baptist, and has 36 games for the Mean Green. Adame was named captain by her teammates for 2013, and was an important member of the defense that held opponents scoreless for 422 minutes earlier this year. A two-time conference champion, Adame has three career assists and nearly 2,900 minutes in a Mean Green uniform. In her three years at NT she has never been a part of a defense that has allowed more than 0.99 goals against.
