DENTON, Texas (10/8/09) – For the final time in their illustrious careers, three prominent seniors of the Mean Green soccer team will suit up one last time this weekend at the North Texas Soccer Field.
Seniors Kendall Juett (midfielder), Kelli Lunsford (defender) and Lauren Shockey (defender) will be honored this Friday evening when the Mean Green host South Alabama on Senior Night at 9 p.m. Then the following Sunday the trio will play in their final home game against Troy at 1 p.m.
"Obviously it would be really nice for Kendall, Kelli and Shockey to go out with a win this Friday on senior night,” North Texas head coach John Hedlund said. “They have meant so much to me and the program over the years that it would be only fitting.”
The Mean Green (7-4-1, 3-0-1) is playing some of their best soccer of the season and is currently riding a four-game unbeaten streak in Sun Belt Conference play. Last weekend North Texas, who is second in the Sun Belt, went on the road and shutout Florida Atlantic 2-0 and forced a double-overtime tie with the up and coming FIU Golden Panthers.
North Texas holds an outstanding track record against both South Alabama (12-1-1) and Troy (5-0).

The Jaguars have struggled of late and have lost four out of their past five contests. A lot of their troubles seem to come on the defensive side of the ball where Katie Berry and Cassie Lythjohan have allowed a combined 34 goals. However, the Mean Green will have to keep an eye out on sophomore forward Brandi Smith, who leads South Alabama with five goals.
Meanwhile Troy is coming off a 1-0 overtime loss to Western Kentucky, marking their fourth overtime game already this season. The Trojans have three players with four or more goals, including Bridget Duke’s team-leading five goals.
Following this weekend the Mean Green will close the regular season with five straight road games before the Sun Belt Conference tournament begins November 4 in Boca Raton, Florida.
For fans unable to attend this weekend, both games will be available via live stats on MeanGreenSports.com.
