The Mean Green is coming off a weekend sweep of Louisiana-Lafayette and ULM in which they scored a combined six goals while allowing no goals. Freshman forward Michelle Young continued to lead the Mean Green's offensive attack by scoring two more goals in the win over ULM. She now leads the team with five goals and 10 points.
On defense North Texas is anchored by junior goalkeeper Mandy Hall, who has the 33rd best save percentage in the nation at 0.86.
Scouting Florida Atlantic
FAU (2-7-2, 0-2) has lost three straight games coming into Friday's game, including a 4-2 loss at Western Kentucky and a 1-0 overtime defeat to conference leader Middle Tennessee. Senior forward Ashley Mannarino leads the Owls with four goals this season and nine points. The Owls have struggled offensively as a whole, having scored only nine goals on the season.
Scouting Florida International
The Golden Panthers (3-5-2, 1-1) are coming off a big 1-0 overtime at Western Kentucky last weekend, marking their first ever win over the Hilltoppers. FIU has had trouble scoring as well with only seven goals in 2009, however they are tied with the Mean Green for second in the Sun Belt with four shutouts. The Golden Panthers will have their hands full before hosting the Mean Green when they host Denver on Friday.
All-Time Series Breakdown
North Texas will look to keep a clean slate against Florida Atlantic on Friday. The Mean Green has gone 3-0 against the Owls in the two team's short history. Last year North Texas defeated the Owls 3-2 in Denton thanks in part to goals from Brittany Cleveland, Kendall Juett and Kelsey Perlman.
The Mean Green has been nearly as dominant against FIU with a 9-2 career record against the Golden Panthers. Last season North Texas escaped with a 1-0 win over FIU on a goal by Julie Lackey.
