Soccer Team Set To Open Up Sun Belt Play

DENTON, Texas (9/23/09) - For the first time since late in the 2007 season the Mean Green soccer team is riding a three-game losing streak as they open up Sun Belt play Friday evening. North Texas (4-4) will look to get their struggling offense back on track as they host both Louisiana-Lafayette (0-7-1) and ULM (1-5-1) this weekend at the North Texas Soccer Field.

The Mean Green is coming off back-to-back shutout losses at Ohio St. and Xavier last weekend, which proceeded a 1-0 loss at home against Prairie View A&M. The three shutouts this season matched the entire total for the 2008 season.

The good news for head coach John Hedlund and company is the fact that North Texas is 79-26-8 all-time in regular season conference play, which includes a 12-0 mark against Lafayette and 2-1 versus ULM. Following this weekend the Mean Green will play only two more homes games in 2009 while they still have seven more to play on the road including five straight to end the regular season.

Both games this weekend will be available via live streaming video at Mean Green Premium on You can also follow the action both Friday and Sunday under the live stats section.

Friday's game against Louisiana-Lafayette is set for 7 p.m. while Sunday's action against ULM will get underway at 1 p.m.
